Amica Mutual Insurance

Network Cabling, Sound Masking, A/V, Security

Amica Insurance, based in Lincoln, R.I., has named Connectivity Point as their nationwide, preferred installer for network cabling, sound masking, audio/visual equipment, and security systems.

Amica is not only known as the oldest mutual insurer of automobiles in the United States; the company is also known in the insurance industry for its financial strength and exceptional customer service. *

Connectivity Point also prides itself on exceptional customer service. Since 2009, we have worked hard to serve this customer and to increase the value we can provide to them.
We were first introduced to Amica through our Systimax (network cabling) representative. At the time, they were looking for a dependable network cabling partner to assist with a variety of installations, large and small. Connectivity Point was able to meet Amica's needs and as the relationship grew stronger, Amica felt confident in asking us to help them with additional services.

Connectivity Point is an authorized dealer/installer of Cambridge Sound Management's sound masking products, which are a standard for Amica, so it was a natural fit for us to begin installing equipment while installing the network cabling.

Audio/visual equipment was next. We installed flat-screen TVs for connection to laptops in conference rooms across the country. The challenge was finding a solution that would work for all Amica locations, both retrofit and new. With our 'design/build' capabilities, Connectivity Point worked with Amica and their architectural team to provide the desired solution. The work included TV installs, mounting bracket, HDMI and VGA cabling to input plate. Some locations required video switchers. We provided diagrams, part numbers and scope for the entire install including EC and GC.

Connectivity Point installed 10-12 sites initially and will be going into every branch to install (45+). CPDI is also helping with the installation of Amica's security equipment.

We're very proud of our relationship with Amica and the confidence they place in us. This is our goal with every customer-to develop strong customer relationships and expand the products and services we can offer. Network cabling, sound masking, audio/visual equipment, security solutions, wireless networks, overhead paging systems, cellular amplifiers, nurse call, intercoms, POS installations, equipment deployment, etc. The list grows, but our approach is the same-skilled employees that design and install solutions that meet our customer's needs.

CPDI and Amica share a similar statement: Customers always come first, and we strive to provide them with the products and service that best respond to their needs. And like Amica, our employees are the key to providing that exceptional service. *

University of Vermont Medical Center

Sound Masking

Connectivity Point was selected to install Cambridge Sound Management's cost-effective QtPro sound masking system in an inpatient wing of The University of Vermont Medical Center, located in Burlington, VT.

The space consisted of approximately 24,000 square feet including patient rooms, hallway corridors, nurse stations, and office space. Small, Qt® Emitters (speakers) were installed in the ceiling tiles throughout the entire space including nurse stations, patient rooms, and corridors. The emitters were connected via cables to a control module in one of the hospital's server rooms.

Since the install, the hospital has seen a marked increase in the number of patients that reported that their room was always quiet at night. As a bonus, QtPro is the most energy-efficient sound masking system available, allowing UVM Medical Center to adhere to its commitment to sustainability.
"We installed QtPro in an inpatient area, along with other noise-reducing measures,"
says Wes Pooler, Director of Facilities Management. "We've experienced positive results from the measures taken."

Due to the success of the system, UVM Medical Center plans to have the system installed in all patient wings.
