Air quality sensors—or vape detectors—do not record video, but can be paired with a linked camera. For example, an air quality sensor installed in a school bathroom might be paired with a camera that is positioned outside the bathroom door. When the sensor inside the bathroom detects a potential vaping/smoking event, the camera footage provides additional context for the event.
The Verkada SV25 sensor leverages privacy and security features that allow organization admins to monitor their facilities while respecting individuals’ privacy:
- All audio recording capabilities are disabled by default.
- Only Admin-level users can enable audio features and must review and accept Terms and Conditions prior to activating.
- Audio must be enabled at the device level, to ensure that recording is only used as needed.
- Admins also have the capability to disable audio across all devices with a single click.
A vape detector, or air quality sensor, can monitor and detect up to 15 environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, CO2, and PM2.5. Pairing the sensors with cameras and noise level monitoring and recording provide comprehensive insights on environmental conditions.
Connectivity Point installs Verkada’s SV20 series air quality sensors. These all-in-one sensors can monitor up to 15 environmental conditions like PM2.5 to detect vaping/smoking, or temperature, motion and noise to detect large gatherings in places like school bathrooms. The sensors provide automatic, real-time monitoring of environmental conditions, and can help reduce event response time in educational settings.
A vape detector senses particulate matter (PM), which are solid particles and liquid droplets in the air. The Verkada SV23 sensor can detect PM2.5 particles, like those emitted from vapes and e-cigarettes. Verkada air quality devices use multiple on-board sensors to measure volatile organic compounds (VOCs), PM2.5, and motion to determine the likelihood of a vaping/smoking event.
