Connectivity Point was hired to design/build the network cabling, audio/visual equipment, and sound masking system within a 60,000 s.f. facility being completely renovated to meet WEX’s expansion needs.
The network cabling project consisted of a CommScope Uniprise Category 6 cabling infrastructure. A primary computer room was established on the second floor and featured Chatsworth Products racks, vertical cable managers, and cable tray. Rack elevations were used to fine tune the design and enabled rack space to be identified for all stakeholders. Rack-to-rack cabling was used to facilitate patching.
Audio/visual equipment was designed for a variety of spaces including digital signage in public spaces, small huddle rooms, medium-sized conference rooms, large conference/training rooms, and a more sophisticated boardroom. Equipment included Sharp displays, Chief mounts, Extron cable cubbies, Crestron controls, NEC projectors, Draper screens, Biamp audio, and Shure microphones. Designing solutions to meet the needs of WEX required input from many people and require a balance between functionality and budget reality. We think we succeeded after receiving this comment from the Director of Facilities: “People are raving about the conferencing system in Room 130. We’re really pleased that you recommended that to us.”

WEX has Cambridge Sound Management sound masking systems throughout all their locations, so including it again in this project was never a question. Large open office spaces—including a dense call center—necessitated a sound masking system to help reduce distractions and create a more appealing environment for employees.
Connectivity Point’s responsibilities included design and construction drawings, attending all project design meetings, coordinating with the general contractor’s construction schedule and all trades, and end-user training. We’re pleased that WEX entrusted us with their confidence on this project.
