Overview
In 2024, Connectivity Point completed a phased installation for Hannaford’s entire Corporate Headquarter building. Starting with pre-construction data cabling including three new stacked telecommunications rooms, we installed new network racks and ran brand new structured cabling to nearly the entire affected area of the remodel. The idea was that this would give us the most flexibility to move people around the building as the remodel was being completed. With upwards of 350 employees in the office and more working remotely, the remodel could not impact the day-to-day work that needed to get done.
Scope of Work
CPDI provided advice and support throughout the construction project, working for both the customer as well as the general contractor in different areas. The design and installation of a wide array of systems included:
• Network Cabling
New network racks and brand-new structured cabling were installed. Once the remodel proper began, we removed old data cabling and ran new.
• Audio Visual, Sound Masking & Cellular Amplification
New sound masking and cellular amplification systems, along with new conference rooms, and a new state-of-the-art boardroom, were installed.
• Telephone
Deployed Cisco desktop phones, emergency phones, and phone lines extended to all appropriate fax and analog phone locations.
• Desktop Installation/Opening Support/Fax
We provided desktop installation, monitors installed on arms, wireless keyboards, and mice, testing of all workstation peripherals to ensure a smooth opening for employees and opening week troubleshooting support in the case of DOA devices.
Outcome
Hannaford started with a crisscross of miscellaneous cables lying across ceiling tiles and unsupported in the ceiling. Some labeled, some not, some Cat5, Cat3, Cat5e, and Cat6. They now have a full structured cabling system with as-builts and network closets with appropriate cabinetry and cooling. Additionally, they have Microsoft Teams Room in all huddle and conference room systems including schedulers on the wall so that rooms can be booked quickly and efficiently.
We installed a Wilson Pro system to appropriately amplify the cellular signal throughout their building, sound masking in all common areas, and a state-of-the-art conference room with camera tracking. We were able to successfully able to keep the Corporate Office running during this massive $1.9M remodeling project that was scheduled over the course of 3 years.
